Every business that doesn’t employ in-house marketing and creative teams has the choice to hire the services of either an agency or a freelancer. Being a freelancer, I’m kind of partial to the businesses that choose freelancers. For the rest of you, why should you choose a freelancer over an agency? I have your top 10 reasons right here:

Just a regular workday.

Just a regular workday.

10) Freelancers are known to erupt into spontaneous one-person dance parties, but we always deduct dance time from the job. Is your agency is doing the same?

9) We work from home, so we’ll always come to you for meetings. Think of all the travel time you’ll save!

8) Since we work from home, we probably aren’t showering until right before the meeting we’ll traveling to meet you for. Isn’t that better than meeting with the sweaty ad exec who’s been running around from client to client all day?

7) If we’re on the other line when you call, we always hang up with the other person to talk to you because, chances are, we were just talking to our unemployed friends anyway.

6) We don’t have bosses so when we work for you, it’s because we like you and believe in what you’re doing. Not because we’re afraid of being fired. So basically you’ll get better work from us.

5) Sometimes we like and believe in you so much we shave time off invoices and give you discounts you don’t even know about. That’s because working for you doesn’t feel like work. (See #6)

4) Free attitude checks! If we ever say we’re too busy to continue working for you, you can pretty much count on the fact that it’s because you’re a jerk. We call this service a free attitude check. You’re welcome!

3) We aren’t forced to work 8-5, which means we aren’t trying to kill time time—or dragging out the billable time of your job—just to make it through the day. We want to get your work done quickly so we can get back to watching Friends on Netflix.

Are you following this? Faster work (because Netflix) + quality work (because we believe in you) = Fast, quality work. Ok that was an obvious answer to that math problem. On to #2!

2) Since our home is our office, every day fees like an off day. So working the weekend is really no big deal if you need us to. That means you come in to a full inbox of completed projects every Monday morning. Talk about starting your week off right!

And the most important reason to work with a freelancer…

1) The best of us will eventually grow tired of wearing PJs all day and grow our freelancing into a legitimate agency. And we’ll always remember that you stood by us “way back when” so you’ll end up getting some killer freelance rates from a full-service agency.

Although we may start billing you for the dance parties.
